Great is God's Mercy and Grace

Great is God’s Mercy and Grace!

On many occasions when I was not a Christian I had some very close encounters with death. One night while out drinking and riding in my friends truck, we almost had a head on collision with a semi truck. It was in the middle of the road, without any emergency lights flashing, flares or florescent signs to warn us. We missed by a few inches. I remember another time when I was riding in my cousin’s car a, 1965 GTO, 389, 3 Deuces, 4 on the floor! It was indeed a muscle car! He pulled out into the traffic lane, which was clear and another driver in a car already on the road decided to cross over to the lane he was heading to. To avoid a serious crash my cousin quickly applied the brakes and turned the steering wheel to the left. The left side of his car instantly went up like it was going to turn completely over and then the car stayed in that weird position. There we were, him, his brother, and me going down the road on two tires on the right side of the car! Unbeknown to us some relatives of ours was behind us and witnessed the whole incident. They told us later they didn’t understand why the car didn’t completely flip over. They said the left side went up and then it suddenly stopped and they could see the entire underside of the car! It rolled about 20 feet or more and then came back down on all four wheels! We were shaken up pretty bad, but no one was injured and the car wasn’t damaged. The third near death accident I had was when I was riding in my cousins 55 Chevy and he was going at least 65 or 70 mph up and down some hills in the Quad Cities. We were at the top one hill and there was a 4 way stop at the bottom. He stomps on his brakes and then hollers “My brakes are gone! We don’t have any brakes! I instantly stuck half of my body and head out of the window and started shouting with a very loud voice, “No Brakes! No Brakes! No Brakes! We rolled through the intersection without any problem. We were still going faster than the speed limit and just over the next hill was another 4 way stop. He and I looked at each other with a death look. I said take out the bushes coming up on the right side now! He did and we came out alive and shook up! Isa 26:10 10 Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD. NIV (This was my status when I lived in sin.) Ps 5:7 7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple. NIV (This is my current status today, because of Jesus.) My prayer for my neighbors, family, and friends is whatever you do, don’t leave earth without knowing Jesus Christ the Lord. Be Blessed by God. Love you all Pastor Dan
